Research & Development
The mission of our Research & Development department is to maintain the intellectual property of the company and to improve our knowledge of solid-liquid filtration systems, to develop new models and new solutions in filter presses design, and to improve in the filtration process. Bilfinger Water Technologies Research & Development carries out research and development of new products, from chemical analysis to the filtration process, from concept design to the engineering of filter presses and ancillary equipment.
The research activities can be divided into:
This activity examines the different stages of the filtration process (sludge feeding, cake washing, cake drying) in order to fully understand the basic fluid dynamic principles and develop technologies aimed at gaining better control and efficiency.
Our team of chemists and engineers develops new technological solutions on Diemme® Filtration filter presses thanks to a wide range of bench units and industrial pilot plants reproducing the filtration process on an industrial scale.
These tests allow us to optimise the filtering process for any kind of material and to collect immediate and real data as well as to improve plant design. Eventually, this activity enables us to develop new technological solutions for plants and processes. Fluid dynamics studies and process simulations drive all the data collected in the experimental work to the engineering of new filter press models and innovative components.
