Ceramic slurry filtration is one of the long-term applications of filter presses. The aim is to obtain a ceramic mix to be used for creating fine pottery pieces.
In the past, this kind of product was filtered mainly with round, iron-casted filter press plates. With the introduction of polypropylene, plates have been replaced and the plate-shifting system has been introduced.
Besides ceramic slurry, nowadays the filter press is used mainly for the filtration of sludge from tile-enameling and porcelain stoneware production purification plants.
In these cases, sludge usually has a good filterability and fully-automatic filter presses can be used.
